Sunday April 16, 2023 I am leading a bicycle ride around some of the monuments discussed in this project. We will, as a group, go see these monuments in their context. We plan to start at about 10:00AM.
The route is about twelve miles long, and we’ll move at a casual pace. It is intended to be for all skill levels – we won’t leave anyone behind. I have six planned major stops, but will be prepared to adjust the ride/route as dictated by the needs of the group.

As you can see, the route never strays too far from the start point, so it’s easy to get back to the start should something come up.
The only elevation change is a hill in North Augusta to visit the Meriwether Monument – we can take it easy up that hill, and all catch our breaths before talking about the monument.
Total elevation for the ride is under 300ft.
You need to bring your own bike in good, working order. You’ll have to wear a helmet. I can’t provide either of those for you.
We’ll have limited mechanical support with us, in so far as I’ll have a few spare tubes in case of a flat, a basic tool kit, and the knowledge to solve common roadside problems.
After the ride, we can go check out the exhibit inside the Morris Museum, which opens at noon and is free on Sundays.
If you can’t make it on the day, but are interested in the tour don’t worry. I’m going to create a self guided version of the tour. At a future date, I will publish the route in detail as well as the locations of the specific stops. I am also producing an audio accompaniment for the tour so you won’t even have to read anything.

This event does not cost anything, I just want to have an idea of how many people are coming.
